Having selected Walter Barda as our architect, we then turned our mind to find a builder who would deliver on a very complex project. We had to demolish a wonderful old beach house, retain materials for inclusion in our new build, construct two houses, side by side as a family complex that would create our long term living arrangements. Not only this, but we had to work through the myriad of issues that precede such an undertaking.
We selected Cre8ive as our builders and have been absolutely convinced that this was the best decision we could have made during this entire project. When we made the decision to commence our second demolition and rebuild it was with some hesitation. Our first experience in 2002 was not a positive one as we had significant issues with our builder. For our second project, our architect, Walter Barda, recommended Mark to us and we can say without any hesitation that the entire experience was a stress free and positive one.
Mark delivered the project, a 450 m2 steel and timber beach-house, within time and largely within budget (any small overrun was totally our doing). We found Mark to be an absolute perfectionist with regards to his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He and his team were reliable, honest and highly skilled. There were several occasions during the build where Mark sacrificed some of his fees to ensure the project was built to his desired standards. Mark’s project management and problem solving ability is also impressive.

We had fabulous architectural plans for a three-storey modern beach house overlooking the ocean and we needed an equally great builder. That builder was Mark McDonald. From start to finish Mark was professional and a pleasure to work with. He took care to consider the plans and our requirements. His craftsmanship as a carpenter and cabinetmaker came together in a high quality result that we are both very proud of. The intricacies of the plan and the difficulty in construction were considerable and Mark handled it all with ease and good humour.
